All Saints Church, Brough

Our work in close collaboration with the vicar and PCC at All Saints Church, Brough has produced a warm and welcoming church that well suits the character of its congregation. The project was broken into two manageable phases with Phase 1 providing a new underfloor heating system throughout the nave and radiators beneath the windows. This phase also involved replacing the floor with large format porcelain tiles whose colour gradually lightens towards the altar, redecorating the church and reopening the Victorian entrance. Phase 2 of the project built a new, warm, ‘narthex’ structure at the west end and altered the lighting. This has created an additional, warm and cosy space for smaller gatherings. The structure was designed to maintain and enhance the existing design of the church while still being modern. Internal rooflights bring light from, and provide views to, the existing stained glass windows. The York based sculptor Charles Gurrey carved the oak beam above the west door with hand cut lettering specially created for the project.
