All Saints Church, Northallerton
Ferrey and Mennim work on the conservation of churches but also on their continuing sensitive adaptation and updating. At All Saints Church, Northallerton we are working with the church community to undertake a series of projects to adapt the 900 year old church for modern use and make its environment more comfortable for its users.
Having inserted a new kitchen that has enabled the wide north aisle to perform a range of community functions such as a popular baby and toddler group, we have recently completed a major re-lighting scheme. This has been designed to be multi-functional allowing light settings perfectly adapted to the church’s different uses.
LED fittings have been used throughout for their extremely low energy use and naturalistic colour rendering and now the painted ceilings and reredos of the church can be better appreciated. The result is that the new lighting scheme has dramatically improved the internal appearance of the church.
Projects for new underfloor heating and an entrance porch have now begun, and our on-going care has enabled the exemplary facilities that can allow it to continue at the heart of the community in Northallerton.
